Strategic Objectives 

The strategic objectives of the Audit Committee are to:

• Assist the ABoR Board of Directors with oversight of the annual financial audit or financial review

• Assess the qualifications and independence of the independent auditors selected to conduct the audit or financial review

• Assess the performance of the independent auditors following the audit or financial review

Qualifications 

Committee members should have a working familiarity with basic finance and accounting practices. Members should also be able to read and understand fundamental financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and statements of cash flow. Applicants must be a primary or secondary ABoR REALTOR® member to serve on this committee. 

Time Commitment 

The Audit Committee typically meets once a year, or as often as necessary to enable fulfillment of its responsibilities. 

Strategic Objectives 

The Budget Committee is responsible for reviewing financial policies, goals, and budgets that support the mission, values, and strategic goals of ABoR and Unlock MLS.

Qualifications 

Budget Committee members should have a working familiarity with basic finance and accounting practices and be able to read and understand fundamental financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements and statements of cash flow.  Applicants must be a primary or secondary ABoR REALTOR® member to serve on this committee. 

Time Commitment 

The Budget Committee typically meets quarterly to review financial statements. In the fourth quarter of each year, the committee meets as often as necessary to recommend the annual budgets for approval by the ABoR and Unlock MLS Boards of Directors. 

Strategic Objectives 

The Strategic Partner and Diversity Advisory Group coordinates activities related to increasing the overall diversity and inclusiveness of ABoR volunteers and leadership to ensure ABoR is an inclusive organization with programming to meet the needs of our diverse community. The Committee is comprised of appointed representatives from ABoR’s Strategic Partner organizations, as well as 10-15 at large positions.

Number of Open Positions Available: 15 

Qualifications 

At large positions on the Strategic Partner and Diversity Advisory Group must be filled by ABoR primary or secondary REALTOR® members. Applicants who are active in any of ABoR’s Strategic Partner organizations or have experience working on diversity issues are preferred.

Time Commitment 

The Diversity Committee meets quarterly, or as often as necessary to fulfill its responsibilities. 

The ABoR Foundation is a separate 501(c)(3) charitable organization affiliated with the Austin Board of REALTORS®. Through programs and partnerships focused on housing, education, and local disaster relief, the Foundation creates meaningful opportunities for REALTORS® and real estate professionals to give back and strengthen the Central Texas communities they serve.

Qualifications

There are a variety of ways to serve on the Foundation through community impact events, scholarship interview teams, fundraising initiatives, and other ways to make a difference throughout the year. All ABoR members are welcome to apply.

Time Commitment

Foundation Ambassador Quarterly Meetings: 1 hour per quarter; attendance is mandatory. Programming: Approximately 12–15 hours annually; additional time for research and outreach outside of meetings may be needed.

ABoR Global Ambassadors | Continents, Countries, Regions & Entities  

Representing countries, regions, continents, and internationally focused organizations, Global Ambassadors work alongside ABoR Global staff and the Global Advisory Group to identify emerging opportunities, share market intelligence, strengthen international relationships, and help ABoR members navigate an increasingly interconnected real estate marketplace.

Why it matters: Central Texas attracts people, businesses, investment, and ideas from around the world. At the same time, ABoR members are increasingly serving clients whose real estate interests extend beyond Central Texas and the United States. Global Ambassadors help bridge those worlds by connecting members with the knowledge, relationships, cultural understanding, and resources that can turn a global connection into a business opportunity.

Global Ambassador Positions Available: Up to 40 annually
Number of Open Seats: 20 in 2027, 2-year commitment
Global Ambassador Positions Overall: Minimum of 13 and maximum of 40

Global Ambassadors:

• Serve as subject matter resources and liaisons to an assigned country, region, continent, market, or internationally focused entity.

• Appointments through an application and selection process prior to the beginning of their term.

• Represent focus markets and entities selected annually based on member needs, market trends, existing international relationships, and ABoR Global's strategic priorities.

• Demonstrate a commitment to helping ABoR members understand international real estate trends and better serve clients whose real estate needs cross markets and borders.

• Generally, hold or are working toward the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation, Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation, or a similar credential.

• Bring working knowledge of the culture, market, business environment, and, when applicable, language of the country or region they represent.

• Share insights into emerging real estate trends, business practices, economic developments, resources, and opportunities within their respective focus markets.

• Champion the ABoR Global Business Alliance, Global Ambassadors, and Global Advisory Group.

• Participate in global meetings, events, and programming at ABoR Headquarters and virtually through ABoR On-Air.

• Are strongly encouraged to participate in Texas REALTORS® global programming, National Association of REALTORS® international programming, and other conferences that help strengthen Austin's position in the global marketplace.

• Help develop and maintain relationships with international partners and locally based organizations such as consulates, chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, sister cities, trade organizations, and other globally focused entities, when appropriate.

• Serve a one-year term at the discretion of the Global Advisory Group and may be considered for reappointment.

• Together, create a network of knowledge and relationships that connects Central Texas with markets and opportunities around the world.

Qualifications

ABoR Global Ambassadors may be ABoR members or ABoR-affiliated professionals with international real estate knowledge and expertise.

Time Commitment

Global Ambassador Meetings: 1.5 hours per quarter; attendance is mandatory.
Programming: Approximately 12–15 hours annually; additional time for research and preparation outside of meetings may be needed.

Additional opportunities include the Global Advisory Group. This Group guides the strategy of ABoR Global, the Global Ambassadors, and the Global Business Alliance, helping strengthen international relationships and create opportunities for members and the Central Texas region. Advisors typically have served as a Global Ambassador or brought international real estate expertise, ideally with a CIPS, CCIM, or similar credential. The group has five to seven advisors serving one-year terms, with one seat open annually, and requires mandatory quarterly meetings of 1.5 hours plus 12–15 hours of programming each year. After one year of service as a Global Ambassador, you will be eligible to apply for the Global Advisory Group.

Strategic Objectives 

Policy Ambassadors are a key extension of the ABoR’s advocacy efforts that foster strong relationships with local elected officials through intentionally connecting elected officials with specific Central Texas REALTORS®. Policy Ambassadors provide local elected officials with their unique perspectives on real estate issues and public policy issues that are important to Central Texas REALTORS®. Each Policy Ambassador position is for a 2-year term.  

Number of Open Positions Available: 15

Qualifications Policy Ambassadors must be a primary ABoR member, TREPAC investor, registered voter and a willingness to play an active role in specified grass roots initiatives.  Preference will be given to members who live within the elected officials district, have past ABoR involvement, understand issues affecting Central Texas REALTORS® and have an interest in politics.   

Time Commitment Policy Ambassadors meet 3-4 times a year for training and information sharing. The Policy Ambassadors are expected to be in contact with their Elected Official at least once a month by phone, email or in-person and report back to ABoR staff.  

Strategic Objectives

The strategic objectives of the Industry Awards Candidate Review Committee are to:

Score vetted applications and select finalists and winners of ABoR members who have made outstanding contributions to the real estate industry and their community and best reflect the member charge to Advocate, Build, Change, and Lead.

In addition, committee members shall act as event ambassadors promoting nominations, applications, sponsorships and attendance.

Number of Open Positions Available: 7 + 2 Affiliates 

Qualifications 

•  The Committee shall consist of seven (7), but no more than nine (9), REALTOR members that may include up to 2 Affiliate members. 

•   Committee members must be in good standing and currently practicing real estate for a minimum of 2 years 

• The Chair and 1 committee member will be appointed within the committee for a 2^nd year for consistency.  

Time Commitment 

The Industry Awards Candidate Review Committee meets up to 5 times in the first and second quarters. 

Strategic Objectives

The Legislative Management Team (LMT) serves as the front line of advocacy volunteerism on behalf of ABoR. The committee makes policy, candidate and issues recommendations to the Board of Directors, guided by ABoR’s Policy Principles which include private property rights, strategic land use, and business issues and practices.

The committee is made up of appointed representatives serving due to their current ABoR Leadership roles, as well as five Policy Team Leads – at large-positions any ABoR Member can apply for. The committee consists of:

• LMT Chair, Vice Chair, and Immediate Past Chair;

• An ABoR Board of Director or designee;

• The Texas REALTORS® Region 15 Political Involvement Council (PIC) representative;

• All Texas REALTORS® Region 15 TREPAC Trustees;

• TREPAC Committee Chair and Vice Chair; and

• Five Policy Team Leads, covering business issues, land use, property rights, rental issues, and general advocacy

Qualifications

LMT Members are encouraged to have some experience with local government or public policy issues. Applicants must be an active ABoR REALTOR® Member (primary or secondary) or an Affiliate Member to serve on this committee.

Time Commitment

The LMT typically meets monthly, with special meetings called as needed to fulfill the committee's responsibilities. Policy Team Leads are also responsible for attending meetings to help craft ABoR's annual Public Policy Agenda (typically twice a year), serving as ABoR Staff's go-to resource on policy issues within their respective Policy Team, and participating in meetings with local officials as needed.

Strategic Objectives & Functions

The strategic objectives of the MLS Compliance Committee are to:

Work with the Unlock MLS staff in the ongoing assessment of compliance mechanisms along with providing oversight and enforcement of the Unlock MLS Rules & Regulations.

Provide ongoing assessment, improvement, and implementation of MLS Rules & Regulations and associated Compliance Mechanisms.

Hear or review written complaints not prescribed by Unlock MLS’s Compliance Escalation Process, any dispute of prescribed penalties, and mandatory hearings for Participants and their licensees having to do with an infraction of MLS Rules and Regulations.

Number of Open Seats: 6

Qualifications

Committee members must have a minimum of 3 years of real estate experience, as well as have a firm understanding of the Unlock MLS Rules and Regulations. Applicants must be a primary or secondary ABoR REALTOR® member to serve on this committee.

Parameters

Members of this committee shall serve for a two (2) year term and staggered so that ½ of the members are appointed each year. A person may only serve three (3) consecutive terms; after two (2) calendar years off, a person will become eligible to be reappointed for additional terms. Subject to the limitation on terms served consecutively, there is no limit on the total number of terms a person may serve.

Time Commitment

The MLS Compliance Committee meets at least quarterly, or more frequently as the committee may determine. Disciplinary hearings will occur as needed.

Strategic Objectives

Policy Teams serve as an educational opportunity, turning members into experts on the policy issues identified in ABoR's Public Policy Principles: business issues, land use, private property rights, and rental issues.

Each Policy Team is led by a Policy Team Lead, who sits on the Legislative Management Team (LMT) and gives ABoR staff a practitioner's perspective on policy issues within their team's scope — helping staff monitor those issues and advise the LMT accordingly. If you are interested in serving as a Policy Team Lead, be sure to also select the Legislative Management Team on your application.

Qualifications

Policy Team Members must be an active ABoR REALTOR® Member (primary or secondary) or an Affiliate Member.

Time Commitment

Policy Teams typically meet twice a year to help craft ABoR's annual Public Policy Agenda, and offer members educational opportunities on local policy issues they can attend throughout the year.

Strategic Objectives

The TREPAC Committee is responsible for developing and executing ABoR's annual TREPAC fundraising and participation goals. The committee educates members about the importance of TREPAC, plans and supports fundraising events, solicits voluntary investments, and works to meet ABoR's annual TREPAC fundraising quota and participation goals.

Number of Open Seats: 40

Qualifications

TREPAC Committee members should meet the following qualifications:

• Primary or Secondary REALTOR® or Affiliate Member of ABoR

• Commitment to invest in TREPAC at the current Fair Share level ($45) or higher

• Politically active/involved at the local, state, and/or national level

• Registered voter (if applicable)

• Fundraising experience preferred

• Event-planning experience preferred

Time Commitment

The TREPAC committee meets monthly. Committee members are encouraged to participate in at least one TREPAC working group to help plan one of the TREPAC fundraising initiatives. Committee members are also required to attend at least one TREPAC fundraising event annually.

Vet the most qualified candidates for ABoR Board of Directors positions in accordance with the ABoR Bylaws. These candidates will be provided to the general membership for a vote.

Recommend to the Board of Directors the most qualified candidates for Texas REALTOR® and NAR Director and Texas REALTOR® Regional Vice President for Board approval.

Recommend to the Board of Directors the most qualified candidates for ABoR Committee Members, Committee Chairs, and Committee Vice Chairs for Board approval.

Qualifications

Committee members should have a thorough understanding of the ABoR and Unlock MLS Strategic Plans as well as the operational focus of both entities to better understand the leadership needed to move the organization forward. Applicants must be a primary or secondary ABoR REALTOR® member to serve on this committee.

Time Commitment

The Vetting Committee meets nine (9) times annually, including two (2) full days of candidate interviews.

The ABoR YPN Advisory Group is comprised of members dedicated to building a diverse membership base and fostering a forum for social and professional networking, professional education, and civic involvement throughout the Greater Austin area. Membership has no age limit — YPN welcomes anyone who is young at heart or young in the business. This is your network.

Number of Open Seats: 25

Qualifications

Committee members should have a thorough understanding of the ABoR and Unlock MLS Strategic Plans as well as the operational focus of both entities to better understand the leadership needed to move the organization forward. Applicants must be a primary or secondary ABoR REALTOR® member or affiliated professionals to serve on this committee.

Time Commitment

Monthly 1 hour in person committee meetings and 20 hours annually are set aside for educational networking mixers.
