Austin Board of REALTORS® Foundation awards scholarships to Central Texas students
36 students receive combined $72,000 in scholarships
AUSTIN, TX – The Austin Board of REALTORS® (ABoR) Foundation recently awarded 36 local high school seniors and college students with a combined $72,000 in higher education scholarships. Recipients, who were selected based on demonstrated excellence, leadership and hard work, must reside within the Austin Board of REALTORS® 18-county Central Texas service area and have committed to a Texas higher-education institution in order to receive the scholarship.
“Over the last year, we have learned the power of perseverance and the importance of local community members helping one another,” Albert Allen, ABoR Foundation chair, said. “This year’s scholarship recipients are truly remarkable young leaders, overcoming difficult learning environments and cancelled programs to still achieve success. I’m equally proud of our many scholarship donors, whose incredible generosity enabled the ABoR Foundation to award an additional $10,000 in scholarships this year.”
Since 1978, the ABoR Foundation has awarded more than 500 scholarships, including more than $400,000 in the last six years alone. The ABoR Foundation Scholarship Program is directly funded by the generous support of more than 14,000 Central Texas REALTORS® and real estate professionals.
“The ABoR Foundation enables our members to invest their energy and expertise to help solve the most pressing issues facing our community,” Susan Horton, ABoR president, said. “As a longtime supporter of the Foundation’s Scholarship Program, it has been one of the biggest joys of my career to watch scholarship recipients succeed and go on to become leaders in our community.”
